Our early childhood program is an eclectic and child-centered. Our curriculum encourages imagination, creativity and growth, that are cultivated in a nurturing environment, and emphasizes social and emotional development. Children in our program are exposed to a rich bi-lingual (English/Hebrew) curriculum blending interactive play, self-discovery and learning.
Our classroom care setting is bright and warm, and our on-site outdoor play space is considered our “additional teacher”; in it, children climb, garden, socialize, interact and connect to nature. Any day of the week, you will find our children dancing, painting, cooking, creating, dressing up, crafting, and much more. Our stimulating care environment inspires children to think, reason, and experiment through play and social interaction.
Throughout the year, joyous celebrations of Shabbat and the Jewish Holidays foster a deep feeling of pride in the children’s Jewish heritage. Each Friday afternoon, a musical Tot-Shabbat ceremony engages the children in this traditional weekly ritual. Our teachers proudly teach Jewish values such as kindness, and charity and the children also celebrate Israeli culture and connect to the land of Israel through music, song and stories.
At Oranim, we believe in the value of mixed age groups. Younger and older children teach and learn from one another through play and collective interaction. During indoor/outdoor play time, music and movement instruction, and throughout holiday celebrations, the Oranim kids learn to collaborate and build upon each other’s skills. Throughout the hands on projects, Pre-k curriculum learning and circle time, however, the children are part of two unique developmental groups:
Little Builders "Ha-bonim"
Children ages mid-2’sd 3’s, make up the Ha’bonim (little builders) group at Oranim. They are engaged in an eclectic array of activities that are teacher directed, including science,
crafting, and theme based projects during the year. They are guided to develop the social skills essential for enjoying a structured preschool setting and a curriculum that promotes language and speech skills, as well as early math and literacy concepts.
Each day, children in the builders group are introduced to a stimulating curriculum that is taught through small group activities. As such, it engages young minds through the early learning fundamentals they will need as they continue to kindergarten, and enhances
a richblend of skills, interests, and a love of learning.
Little Friends "Cha'verim"
Children ages 18-24 months, make up the little friends group at program. The cha’verim children learn to explore, create, and gain the confidence to forge trusting relationshipsand interact with their friends in and out of the classroom. Interactive play is encouraged to help children in this toddler group bond with one another and develop social skills. Verbal skills are guided to develop through integrated story and song times. Small motor skills are promoted through art activities and the use of manipulative toys.
